| Casey's Static hair after rolling on the couch. |
Hello Everyone! Boy, time has gone by so fast lately. I can't believe it is already the beginning of March. We had a great holiday season with friends and family and since then have tried to get back in the swing of work and taking care of Casey. Casey is 15 months old now! He is getting so big...he seems to just keep getting taller and taller all the time. He runs around the house all day, getting into whatever he can get his hands into...including the dog food dishes and water bowls. He dumps out trashcans, sticks his hands in the toilet (now we have latches on them) and likes to move any furniture around that he is strong enough to pick up. He also loves to climb on the coffee table or couch and dance. Yes, he is a little buster. He has soooo much energy...he keeps me running all day long.
He is also talking (babbling) a lot and trying to say tons of words. His favorite words lately are "kick" and "ball", plus "more" and "all done". He absolutely loves balls...we got him a real mini football, soccer ball, and basket ball and he loves them. He goes around saying "kick" "kick", and kicking the soccer ball. He can even catch the football occasionally! He surprises Kevin and I all the time by how much he knows. The other day I asked him if he wanted to read his Very Beary Bible and he went over and picked it out of the bookshelf, in the middle of tons of other books. He also knows a lot of his other ones too. Then the other day he brought over the foam letters "Y" and "I" and started making saying the sound for I, "i,i,i". Very cool... so I guess Sesame Street is good for something...haha. He also can't get enough of his alphabet books (or any books for that matter) and makes us read them OVER and OVER again. We know tons of his books by heart. He just started getting really interested in counting too.
So besides having a very busy boy, there a few other fun things that are going on with me. I have been planning monthly events for our new group at our church called "Young Families". We have had 3 events so far and they have turned out really well. Today we had about 7 families show up to go to CuriOdyssey, a museum and zoo in San Mateo. It is fun to be able to hang out with other families that have young children and get to know them. I made a website for our group if you would like to take a look. http://youngfamilies.shutterfly.com/. Also, I have been making some friends with some other moms in our church and sometimes going to playgroups and "Mom's Night Outs". That has been a great time for me to relax and talk with other moms!
Another new thing that has happened is that I got a part-time job! I am working at our church, Peninsula Covenant Church, as a wedding coordinator. It is a great job for me because it won't take up much of my time and I can do weddings only if I want to, or if I am available to do them. I have my first wedding coming up on March 19th. Pretty much, my duties consist of helping to run the rehearsals at the church and also meeting with the bride to plan the ceremony for the wedding. Then I have to be there on the wedding day to make sure everything goes okay...to send the bridesmaids out at the right time, help set up, make sure everyone knows what they are doing, etc. So it is a great job for me because I love to organize things like that. I can also do it while I am taking care of Casey because a lot of the job is e-mailing and calling people (like the organist, the sound tech, the bride, the pastor, etc) and then Kevin can take care of Casey on the weekends while I have the rehearsals and weddings. I had been praying that God would lead me to something that I would enjoy doing outside of taking care of Casey, and I am so grateful for this opportunity!
Kevin is doing really well at his job at Lucasfilm. They just finished editing the Special Features for the BluRay of the complete set of Star Wars movies, which is coming out pretty soon. That was definitely a lot of work, but it is pretty cool that Kevin got to have such a big role in editing them. Another new thing with Kevin is that he helped work on a short film with one of the pastors at our church, for a Christian film festival. Kevin did graphics for the opening of the film, as well as the credits. I can't wait to see the finished product!
We are also looking forward to Casey having a new baby girl cousin, coming at the end of May! My brother and Missy are getting ready to have their second daughter, so my parents as well as Kevin and I will probably go down and help out sometime in June.
Overall, we are doing really well. We are still struggling with sleep issues with Casey and would appreciate your prayers that he will learn to put himself back to sleep and that we will know how best to help him in this area. It is hard to function (and be civil to each other) when we don't get much sleep, but God is good and helps us through those days. He also has blessed us so much with such a happy little boy. May God bless you and your families...we would love to hear from you! I hope you like the pictures below!
